This pot and the 3 quart pot I ordered at the same time are replacing my Calphalon Commercial Nonstick pots of similar capacity. The Calphalon has been great but the nonstick surface is deteriorating markedly despite babying it with nylon cooking tools and scrubbers throughout its life. It has had a good run of 5-7 years but the surface is not renewable for life as is the nonstick surface you create for yourself with cast iron. I started with a cast iron skillet and am totally sold. The older I get the more I respect things that last. Season your cast iron yourself rather than getting the pre-seasoned and you learn how the process works and make your cookware truly your own.
