Mint has been used as a flavoring agent for thousands of years, introduced to the British by the Roman’s and taken to North America by the first settlers. Mint has a very distinctive flavor that is only evident in the mint plant. There are many different varieties of mint, the most popular being spearmint followed by peppermint. Peppermint is grown mainly for use in candies and jellies. Often used to flavor lamb when roasting or to make “mint jelly” which is often served with lamb as well.
