Cooking With Tumeric - Use In Recipes

Hello, Chef Brian here. I would like to invite you to check out my cooking videos on youtube.com:

Turmeric is a member of the ginger family and widely used in Asia, it colors foods much the same way that saffron does at a fraction of the cost. The turmeric root looks very mush like ginger, although it has a more curry like flavor. Turmeric is one of the main ingredients in dry curry blends and gives mustard (the hotdog variety) it’s yellow color.

I often use turmeric when cooking ethnic foods such as my Moroccan Grilled Chicken recipe where the turmeric gives the chicken a slightly yellowish color. Chef’s often use turmeric as a cheap substitute instead of saffron for the savings value.
