You have a family to feed and to meet your obligation you cook. You cook breakfast, you cook lunch and you cook dinner. You cook for the little ones and you cook the big ones. You cook to nourish, you cook to nurture and you cook to please. I am sure that in the process of this monumental chore and through the passing of time and the accumulation of experience you have been able to acquire a respectable collection of recipes that satisfy most of the members in your family most of the time. Am I right? I will also venture to guess that you have an additional collect of recipes which is categorized under various topics such as holidays as well as special occasions. But you do not have a collection of recipes that would qualify for the highly specialized, tremendously esteemed and hugely scary category titled gourmet recipes? I will guess that you do not; not yet.

Many people, maybe even most people, believe that gourmet recipes are the exclusive domains of high ranking culinary professionals and those world renowned chefs with foreign sounding names originating in exotic lands. Of course there is quite a bit of truth to this belief but it is not the entire truth. Gourmet recipes are legacies and works of art stemming from the great efforts of top chefs and other culinary artists and they are the footprints left behind by those who have dared to walk the intricate network of gastronomic paths. Much like all other artists who want the entire world to enjoy and appreciate their masterpieces, great chefs want to world to enjoy and appreciate their gourmet recipes for those are their masterpieces.

So, dear reader, allow yourself to rethink and reformulate your old preconceived and erroneous notion that gourmet recipes are not meant for simple folks like you. I am here to assure and convince you that gourmet recipes are meant for you and everyone else around you. They may not necessarily be appropriate for everyday meals or for a rushed breakfast before storming out of the house to make it on time to work. But on some special occasions, when the time is not too pressing and the mood is just right, there is nothing like a gourmet recipe to guide you through the process of preparing the perfect meal with a capital “p” for the ultimate event to be served to the extraordinary person or people in your life. Try it once and you will find yourself wanting it more and more.

Now that I have convinced you to give gourmet cooking a try, you probably want to know where and how to go about finding gourmet recipes and you are right to be a bit concerned. After all, just as you would not find a fine piece or art at the corner arts and crafts store, you will not find true gourmet recipes in just any old cook book. I do not mean to insinuate that gourmet recipes are so very hard to find but I do want you to realize that you need to know where to look for them. You could browse through the many culinary and food lover’s websites on the Internet, you could purchase gourmet recipe books or borrow some from your local public library and you could also get them from a dozen or so gourmet magazines featuring a sum total of hundreds of gourmet recipes of various kinds from many different culture and ethnicities around the world.

If you permit me to advise you, I would suggest that you utilize all the resources available to you. If you are in need to try any gourmet dishes out on someone, well, I’m available for dinner.
