To avoid misunderstandings and to ensure that we, you the reader and I the writer, are both on the same page, quite literally on the same page, before proceeding with this articles I would like to clarify some of the semantics of the top at hand—healthy recipes.

There are, however, a few basic features of healthy recipes that have been globally agreed upon by most health and fitness experts and those are as follows:

1. A healthy recipe must list ingredients that are conducive to the overall good health of the body as well as the mind of an otherwise relatively healthy individual.

- Using little to no animal fats but more non-saturated vegetable based oils
- Using much less red meats and more poultry, fish and seafood
- Keeping sodium levels down to minimum
- Reducing simple sugars while increasing complex carbohydrates
- Avoiding preservatives and other food colorings as well as chemicals
- Focusing more on the natural and less on the processed
- Utilizing fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables and minimizing on the canned and the pre-packaged
- Using whole grains, nuts, seeds, beans and legumes
- Containing more dietary fiber

2. A healthy recipe that list ingredients which are conducive to the overall good health of the body as well as the mind of an otherwise relatively healthy individual must not have them corrupted by incorrect preparations.

- Frying, especially deep frying should be avoided as much as is possible. Healthy recipes will inevitably suggest stir frying instead.
- The potential health benefits in fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables can easily be destroyed when overcooking. Healthy recipes will call for steaming, grilling or baking rather than for boiling in water, broth or heated fats.

3. A healthy recipe will be rich in good flavors, high in valuable nutrition and an eye pleasing presentation for a totally pleasurable eating experience for the well-being of the mind and the body.

4. A healthy recipe will encourage a wide dietary range of variety but in smaller yet completely satisfying portions per serving.
