Wolfgang Puck was born 1956 and learned cooking from his mother who worked as a pastry chef. He was then trained as an apprentice in Provence, France, at Hotel de Paris in Monaco and at Maxim’s Paris before moving to the United States in 1973 to work at La Tour in Indianapolis. In 1975 he moved to Los Angeles to become a chef and a part-owner at Ma Maison restaurant.
The celebrated Austrian born chef, Wolfgang Puck, has gained his unmatched reputation of excellence and professionalism when he published his first cookbook, “Modern French Cooking for the American Kitchen,” in 1981 and then by entertaining the rich and famous of Beverly Hills, California when he opened his first Spago restaurant in 1982. Wolfgang Puck’s success led him to establish the Wolfgang Puck Companies that included the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group, Wolfgang Puck Worldwide, Inc. and Wolfgang Puck Catering.
The Wolfgang Puck Bistro Collection is a line of first-rate professional quality cookware that provides the same excellence and attention to details for which Wolfgang Puck is so well known for. This Wolfgang Puck cookware offers unsurpassed elegance of design combined with durability in stainless steel construction with glass-lid pots, stockpots, saucepans, flying pans, omelet pans, casseroles, tools and miscellaneous pieces. Each one of these piece, of course, is offered in several different sizes.
The following are instructions for the proper use and care of the Wolfgang Puck Cookware:
- Always wash the new cookware in hot water with mild dishwashing detergent and a sponge, nylon pad or dishcloth (never use metal scouring pads). Rinse thoroughly and dry well.
- Several pieces of this cookware collection are coated with a non-stick coating that has been reinforced with stainless still. Unlike other cookware whose non-stick coating will be damaged by metal utensils, the Wolfgang Puck cookware will not. However, it is not recommended that you cut food with sharp knives on top of this coating.
- Beware that the plastic lids for the mixing bowls are not dishwasher safe and should not be placed in a hot over or on the stovetop.
- The bottom of this cookware is high heat conductive for rapid and even heat distribution. It is therefore recommended to avoid using high heat.
- When using the frying pans, preheat them, add a teaspoon of oil until it gets hot and then add the food.
- When cooking of gas burners make sure that the flames do not reach the sides of the pan or it will permanently discolor it and overheat the handle.
- The Wolfgang Puck cookware is dishwasher-safe but hand-washing will result in a nicer shine.
- To remove all kinds of stains, use warm vinegar or boil a mixture of non-lemon detergent with water for approximately fifteen minutes. Stains on the bottom of the cookware can be easily removed with a good commercial oven cleaner.
- Pieces of this collection that come with lids are oven-safe for up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Please avoid exceeding this limit.
- Do not leave pieces of cookware on hot burners or in a hot oven when they are empty or the cookware will be damaged and so may your stove.
- The handles of this cookware are heat resistant but using potholders is highly recommended.
